PRIMARY PULMONARY
HYPERTENSION SYMPTOMS

tests to be run may include:

- echocardiography (ultrasound of the heart);
- ventilation-perfusion lung scanning to
diagnose pulmonary embolism (blood clots passing to blood vessels);
- pulmonary function tests (breathing tests) to
diagnose underlying lung disease (emphysema, interstitial lung disease);
- blood tests to diagnose underlying liver
disease, connective tissue diseases (scleroderma, lupus);
- computed tomography scanning (CAT scan) to
test for underlying lung disease;
- magnetic resonance imaging (MRI scan) to
define the anatomy of central blood vessels and heart.
