PRIMARY PULMONARY
HYPERTENSION SYMPTOMS
PPH Symptoms may include one or more of the following:
- Shortness of breath
following exertion,

If primary pulmonary hypertension is suspected
then an initial medical screening that consists of review of your evaluation

In most medical centers,non-invasive diagnostic testing consisting of any or
all of the following will begin to properly diagnose the condition. The
tests to be run may include:
- chest radiography (chest x-ray);
- electrocardiography (EKG);
- echocardiography (ultrasound of the heart);
- ventilation-perfusion lung scanning to
diagnose pulmonary embolism (blood clots passing to blood vessels);
- pulmonary function tests (breathing tests) to
diagnose underlying lung disease (emphysema, interstitial lung disease);
- blood tests to diagnose underlying liver
disease, connective tissue diseases (scleroderma, lupus);
- computed tomography scanning (CAT scan) to
test for underlying lung disease;
- magnetic resonance imaging (MRI scan) to
define the anatomy of central blood vessels and heart.
